Scheduled Maintenance
Scheduled Maintenance - Manchester Datacentre - Fibre Wavelength Jul 30, 2024 14:00 - Jul 31, 2024 02:00 BST
During the above period one of the suppliers of wavelength services providing connectivity from our Manchester PoP to our London PoP will be carrying out essential maintenance work.

Due to the redundant nature of the UK Servers network this maintenance is not expected to be service affecting for our customers as traffic will automatically re-route however due to the nature of the work the network to our Manchester site should be deemed at risk during this period with reduced resiliency.

Whilst a lengthy maintenance window is scheduled to cover all eventualities, the service provider does not expect the circuit to be offline for the duration of the maintenance window and UK Servers customer's services should not be affected.

Scheduled - WHAT

As part of UK Servers planned maintenance regime, we are required to undertake a full generator load test. It will be carried out to ensure all infrastructure works correctly in the event of a full loss of mains power and to minimise further interruptions.

SERVICE IMPACT

NONE – No interruption or disruption to service is expected during these essential works, however, due to the level of switching that will be undertaken during executing our Generator Test and isolation of power, we are issuing a courtesy At Risk notification to all our customers whose servers are located in our Coventry 211 Facility (Data Hall 2)

WHY

As part of UK servers maintenance regime, it is necessary for us to undertake an quarterly inspection to ensure all infrastructure works correctly in the event of a full loss of mains power. To do this we will be working with our 3rd party contractors to isolate the mains power to the site and perform essential testing.

All Diesel supplies to the site have been checked and confirmed adequate supplies with reserve supplies on standby. Once works have been completed, the fuel supplies will be replenished accordingly.

We have provisioned a maintenance window of up to 4 hours to complete all the necessary tests. All personnel will remain on-site during this maintenance window and for a period of up to 1-hour post the maintenance window.

Works are expected to be non-service affecting as customers will remain on UPS-protected supplies whilst the Generators take up the load and then remain on the Generator load (in an N+1 configuration) until all works are completed. This maintenance does involve changes to a power source to the site, hence an at Risk notification is being sent out.

WHEN

19th November 2024 - 16:00 - 20:00

The At-Risk window will be kept to an absolute minimum and the site will have utility mains power restored and resuming full site protection at the earliest opportunity.
